It won't come as news to the road users of Brentwood, but the roads
throughout Essex are amongst some of the worst in the country. In a report
presented to County Hall today (29 November 2004), it was revealed that the
Conservative administration has failed to meet government targets to stop
the deterioration of roads through our town and villages. The good news is,
that the target was met to keep roads clean three weeks after inspection. Barry Aspinell, Liberal Democrat county councillor for Brentwood said:
"Everyone who uses the roads in Brentwood's town and rural areas, is well
aware of the poor condition of roads generally, but even so today's report
makes for shocking reading. There has been a trend of declining road
conditions throughout the term of this Conservative administration, despite
the party's claim that congestion and road problems was a top priority."
"This is yet another example of the Conservative's failure to keep its
promises and its consistent lack of understanding of what is important to
the people of Essex." Barry Aspinell added.
